Costs, Labor, Fees, Regulations all made the list
Cost and availability in the labor market topped the list of problems that home builders faced in 2019 and it’s expected to be the number problem again this year. That’s according to specific questions on the recent survey for the National Association of Home Builders Housing Market Index.
The survey results show that the cost and availability of labor were a big issue for the majority of builders last year. 87 percent of those polled.
This year, however, a slightly smaller percentage expects them to continue being a problem.
Home Builders’ second-most concerning problem in 2019 was the availability of building materials.
Surprisingly, the Housing Index Survey received special attention from respondents about potential increases in environmental and local regulations. Many local builders appear to have significant worries when it comes to Government interference in the robust U.S. housing market.
