Samsung is apparently looking to get into the home building business, but not for the usual reasons.
For years, Samsung has pitched customers internet-connected TVs, refrigerators, and more. Now the South Korean engineering-to-gadgets maker is trying to go a step further: making the home itself.
Inside a model house in Seoul, Samsung’s virtual assistant, Bixby, shows visitors what’s inside the kitchen fridge while Amazon’s Alexa controls the living-room lighting and A/C. Down the hall, a speaker recommends music and TV shows.
In addition, Samsung software overlays in-house design with competing products to create a unified control system.
Soon, their hope is to combine various technologies to create a house knows who you are.
