January’s unemployment rates for the construction sector fell in 48 states. That’s according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics data. Nationwide, the January 2019 unemployment rate fell from January 2018. However, the numbers increased in the month from December 2018 to January 2019.

The increase in the rate from December to January is consistent with the unemployment rate trend between the two months.

South Dakota had the lowest construction unemployment rate in January.

Illinois had the highest construction unemployment rates.

California was the 15th lowest.

The National Construction Unemployment number was right in the middle. [6.4%]
