New data shows home buyers are willing to pay an additional $9,000 on average, to save $1,000 a year on their home utility bills.
In fact, the average amount was $5,000, but some buyers said they would pay up to $10,000. Even more, would spend more on energy-efficient features.
The study is based on a survey asking recent and prospective home buyers who bought homes in the previous three years about what they want in a home and community.
